I can thank my dad for getting me into fitness and following a healthy lifestyle from a very young age, from working out in the home garage with him doing ‘old-school’ gym routines, to getting me and the family out playing sports, to always encouraging me to always just be myself!

CrossFit was introduced to me by a family friend who started one of the first CrossFit gym’s in Australia.  I thought he was a bit crazy but I went along to all his sessions, turns out he wasn’t crazy, just an early-adopter of the CrossFit Methodology!  After a few months I was hooked and used to drive an hour each way, just for his classes!

I started coaching in a CrossFit gym in 2009, by chance when my boys were in primary school, an opportunity came up that I hadn’t ever really thought about before. Turns out to be one of the best opportunities of my life, because now I have a job I love, in an industry that aligns with my values, and where I get to help people improve their lives, every day.

Working at Hardware Junction has been one of my best jobs! Being able to work in the same community where you live is something I feel very privileged to be able to do. Hardware Junction is warm and welcoming, encouraging and family friendly, all things that are important to create and promote fitness for all levels.

I enjoy working with all of our members, from brand new members who are sometimes really nervous to start, through to our more experienced members who are continuing to improve even years into their training journey.  I think I’m really lucky to be able to do my job, and even more lucky to have been able to gain some valuable experience over the past years working with some of Australia’s leading CrossFit coaches and educators.    I have done my time as a competitive athlete which I absolutely loved at the time.  Now, I like to spend my days coaching, having fun exercising with my workout buddies, and using all my fitness for other fun sports and activities.

I also have an interest in working with people who have chronic pain or injuries and want to get back in to doing activities they love, and see that CrossFit and functional movement are very important components of helping some members achieve those goals.

I am proud that I have made a career of helping people become healthier and fitter since 2011. First achieving my Certificate 3 & 4 in Fitness, then moving into CrossFit where I achieved my Level 1 & 2 as a CrossFit Coach. I have then gone on to continue learning so I can better help my clients overcome injury, develop accountability, and overall help them achieve their health and fitness goals while having fun.

I started out as a competitive cyclist in my junior years, racing at a national and international level. Soon after hopping off the bike, I found CrossFit and fell in love with the lifestyle. I have been lucky enough to compete in CrossFit all around Australia, and at some international events too.

Certificate IV Fitness. Yoga Teacher Training, Pilates Teacher Training, First Aid, CPR, Blue Card

Fitness, health and wellbeing have been part of my life for as long as I can remember. After an 8 year career serving in the British Army I retired to become a Mother.  I then moved my focus towards the Health and Wellbeing Industry.

I completed my Certificate 4 in Fitness in 2011 and then went on to complete my Pilates training and extensive Yoga teacher training. After a long career of teaching in both these fields and as a counsellor and therapist I am now a Yoga Alliance International ERYT 500 Plus Senior Level 5 Teacher and a Clinical Member of The Australian Holistic Healers and Counsellors Association.

I began my journey with Crossfit  4 years ago and I have not looked back. One of my passions is the Longevity Programme I created here at HJ. The main purpose of which is to keep members independent and active for as long as possible. I am also hugely passionate about supporting women in their fitness journey, keeping everyone as flexible as possible and entertaining the younger members of our community with Crossfit Kids.

When not teaching at HJ I can be found teaching yoga at home or mixing up potions and spells.

Currently a Level 1 Crossfit coach as well as a Certified Life Coach, Neuro-linguistic programming practitioner, Clinical Hypnotherapist and qualified Personal Trainer.

I am completely immersed in health & fitness with also being lucky enough to work for a health and fitness education company in sales and marketing.

Starting in the industry in 2014, which is when I first became a CrossFit Coach, my passion and education has only grown since then. As a life long learner I will never stop expanding my knowledge. The more I learn the more I can educate and help more people to improve their life. I am on a mission to help as many people as possible live a happier, healthier, confident, rewarding and fulfilling life. Sadly, I have seen what happens when people don’t work on themselves having two people close to me suffer severely throughout their life as a result.

I feel so incredibly lucky to be able to Coach at Hardware Junction, I absolutely love each and every member as well as each and every coach that I get to work alongside of! Every person is on their own journey and has their own personal reasons of why they train, to be a part of that and make a positive difference to someone’s journey, is truly an incredible thing. I love watching the hard work and the looks of “I’ve got this,” from the wins to the lessons learnt from the failures.  Seeing people progress and being part of such an amazing community, is truly magnificent!!

I started doing CrossFit in 2017 at Hardware Junction and honestly fell in love with it straight away. It was a combination of the unique and fun environment that the CrossFit community offered that led to my passion for fitness. I have found that CrossFit has really had a strong impact on my life and has shaped me into who I am today. I enjoy CrossFit, as not only does it keep me physically healthy, but it also keeps me motivated and mentally strong.

I am currently in Year 12 and completing my Certificate III in Fitness. My love for CrossFit inspired me to do my Level 1 CF course and to become a coach.

I strongly believe that anyone can join our community and thrive. Hardware Junction is such a welcoming community and I’m so lucky to be a part of it! I look forward to working with the HJ members on their unique fitness journeys!

Around 24 years ago at the age of 35 I achieved my first unassisted pull up. Success with what had seemed like an impossibility gave me a glimpse of what could be ahead if I really applied myself to my training. My passion for fitness was well and truly ignited! At that time, I thought I was too old to embark on a career in fitness, though happily I was proven wrong and have been an instructor ever since.

Subsequently, my own fitness journey has taken me to the thrills of competing – indoor rowing, club road cycling, Masters CrossFit – and the frustrations of experiencing and recovering from significant injury.

Unfortunately, it is because of an injury I sustained in April last year that I am not able to compete in the Open this year. While this currently prevents me from running or jumping (or walking well for that matter!), I believe that we need to “focus on what we can do, not what we can’t”. Needing a training goal, for 12 weeks I focused entirely on indoor rowing and at the end of February I represented Australia at the World Indoor Rowing Championships and came 6th in the 500m Women’s Lightweight 50-59years division.

Now that box has been ticked, I will be setting new goals – focusing on what I can do! All the while being rigorous with my rehab in the hope that eventually I will regain full use of my leg.

In context of coaching and instructing others, I understand the thrill of making gains and competing as well as the encouragement and work required to achieve this. My experience also allows me to understand the mental fortitude required to push yourself and how tough a physical injury can be. Finally, my age and lived experience give me perspective and no matter what we can always do the very best with what we’ve got.
